Pet Emergencies

Our out of hours emergency provision is now provided by our partners Vets Now.

In the event of an emergency please telephone 01273 473232. We will either be there to answer your call, when one of our staff can organise an early appointment, give advice on first aid, or on how to safely transport your pet to the clinic, or you will hear a recorded message giving details of Vets Now’s emergency clinics in Eastbourne & Worthing.

Vets Now will look after the out-of-hours service overnight, weekends & Bank Holidays.

If you do need to be seen, Vets Now will make sure any relevant information is emailed to us before we open again in the morning, allowing a seamless continuity of care when your pet returns to Cliffe Veterinary Group for follow-up treatment.

As Vets Now are a separate company from Cliffe Veterinary Group; you will be asked to pay them directly at the time of treatment. Naturally, the fees are more expensive than daytime fees, reflecting the dedicated Out of Hours service, which is fully staffed throughout the night and over the weekends. Their staff will always fully explain the fees to you and if your pet is insured, this normally covers the costs. Their number one priority is always to provide the best possible care for your pet.

You will be directed to the Vets Now contact centre where their experienced call handlers will be waiting to help. 

The Vets Now contact centre is supported by vets who can provide free advice over the phone and help decide whether your pet needs to be seen by them.  Please don’t hesitate to call them if you are at all concerned. If required, you will be advised to visit your nearest clinic where you will be seen by the emergency team who are on-site 24/7 providing round-the-clock care, meaning any hospitalised pets will never be alone.

Vets Now also offer an online video consultation service called ‘Video Vets Now’ which can be accessed from our website and booked online between the hours of 8am and 11pm. A vet can then assess and advise as to whether your pet needs to be seen by an out-of-hours vet if you are unsure. These consultations cost £24 but are refunded if you need to be seen either by ourselves or Vets Now. Please note, vets are unable to prescribe medication following an online consultation.
