Michelle Macey-Richardson VN
Mitch as she is better known joined CVG in 2000 as a second year trainee nurse and then
in 2006 took over the position of Head Nurse of the Small Animal Department. With this
promotion came the responsibility of ensuring the smooth running of the nursing department
over three surgeries and she can often be seen with her head over the desk or at a computer trying to juggle staff rota’s. She also deals with the completion of insurance claim forms at our
Lewes Surgery. When she finally gets to carry out veterinary nursing her special interests
are theatre work & wound management.
If cats could talk we know her 3 legged cat Dash would thank her for taking him on after he
was bought to the Practice as a stray involved in a road traffic accident.
Michelle is now on maternity leave after the birth of her first daughter, Enola.
Nicola Dyer VN
Nicola joined CVG in 2003 as a qualified veterinary nurse. She shares her working week
between our Lewes and Ringmer surgeries, and is responsible for running our regular
and very popular puppy parties. She is also a trained assessor and helps the practice
trainee nurses with their course and practical assessments.
At home each evening waiting for her are her 2 cats Harry & Tinks and her 2 ferrets Arnie & Sid.
Nicola will be off on maternity leave soon as she is expecting her first child in September.
Isabelle Singleton VN
Issy as she is known to all of us joined the Practice as a qualified veterinary nurse in 2003 from
a practice in Nottinghamshire. Her special interest is in exotic animals and at the present time
she is studying towards an additional qualification in this subject.
Linda Kerr VN
We were lucky enough to have Linda join us in 2005 as our regular face of the nursing team at
our Ringmer Surgery. She has been nursing in one capacity or another for 15 years. Linda now splits her time between Ringmer & Woodingdean with Nicola and Amanda. Being the eldest of
our nursing team she offers a wealth of knowledge and expertise which she shares willingly
along with her wicked sense of humour. Until recently she was the only female in her household, she had three males waiting for her when she got home, her husband, her father in law and her terrier Sid but they have now been joined by Fig a female border terrier.
Becky Archard VN
Becky first joined the Practice in 2002 as a kennel girl and then progressed with the help of Plumpton College and Suzanne Holliman (one of our assessors) to become a fully qualified veterinary nurse in September 2007. As like many veterinary nurses theatre work is her great
love, however she enjoys all aspects of her work and is now training to become an assessor herself so that she can pass on the knowledge and love of veterinary nursing which is so
important to her. Becky and her family have two tortoises, George (62 years old!) & Dash (24 years old) and a cat called Archie. You can always tell when Becky is in the Practice as she
has a very loud giggle.
Amanda Holmes VN
Amanda joined us in January 2008 as a newly qualified veterinary nurse, having completed
her training at a practice in Horsham. She is based at our Lewes surgery but also shares the
nursing responsibility of our Woodingdean surgery with Linda. Amanda has taken on the task
of encouraging & supporting clients to feed their pets a healthy diet and attend regular weight
control clinics which she runs along with Nicola & Linda at all of the small animal surgeries.
Like many of the nursing staff Amanda loves cats & has one at home, in addition she has two guinea pigs Zippy & George. (We think she was a fan of Rainbow when she was younger)
Clare Bates VN
Claire joined us from a local Practice as a first year trainee in 2008, but in January 2009 she joined the ranks of a Qualified Veterinary Nurse.
Over the coming months we are sure Claire will find a particular career path, but she is leaning towards the medical side of nursing rather than surgical.
At the present time she has her menagerie of pets to keep her busy, these range from horses, to guinea pigs.
Christina Bartley VN
Better known as Chrissie our newest qualified
Veterinary Nurse. She joined the Practice as a
trainee in January 2007 and passed her exams in
September 2009. Like all of our nursing team Chrissie
has been trained in the working ethos of Cliffe
Veterinary Group and is a valued member of a skilled
nursing team.
Sam Fry
In 2005 Sam joined us as our Laboratory Assistant from the University of Chichester having achieved a BSC (hons) degree in Animal Science & Welfare. She is responsible for the day
to day running of our Laboratory and the training of staff in laboratory techniques. Many of the samples we take for testing are carried out by Sam which means we receive the results much quicker and in most cases the same day. There are certain types of testing which we cannot
do in house & these are sent away to one of the corporate laboratories. Unluckily for Sam she
has to deal with some very smelly samples often bought in from the local farms!. Sam has
many interests outside of the work place including her horses Big Ears & Bob and her guinea pigs.
