Referrals
We accept second opinion and referral cases from other colleagues in practice. Our team of vets and nurses provide a 24 hour a day 365 days a year service. Our goal is to provide a compassionate and efficient service based on teamwork within our clinic and with the first opinion veterinary surgeon. We keep owners and their own vets updated on a daily basis and written discharge instructions and reports at discharge assure full continuity of care.
We provide advice, diagnostic investigations and treatments at our clinic and at the home given that we own a variety of portable latest generation diagnostic equipment. Ultrasound scanning, endoscopy and radiographs of the lower limbs can be performed at the yard.
Before we can examine you horse as a Referral from another Vet, or as a second opinion, it is imperative that we first contact you vet and obtain full medical records.

The practice’s team of veterinary surgeons have complementary interests and all five either hold or are enrolled for postgraduate qualifications. Karl Holliman holds the RCVS certificate in Equine Practice and is a BEVA qualified dental technician. Egbert Willems holds the RVCS certificate in Equine Orthopaedics and is enrolled for the Diploma in Equine Orthopaedics. Imogen Burrows is enrolled for the RCVS certificate in Equine Practice. In addition, Penny Brownings is the only veterinary nurse in the UK with the BEVA & BAEDT Equine Dentistry qualification.
The RCVS certificate involves a level of specialization and undertaking rigorous evaluation by experts in the field, whereas the Diploma requires a formal training program of at least three years and only a handful of such Diploma holders work in practice in the UK. You can find out more about or team of vets and nurses in the staff page [link to staff].
